ISO 14064 - Greenhouse Gas Accounting and Verification
ISO 14064 is an independent, voluntary standard for the accounting of greenhouse gas projects and is deliberately politically neutral. It provides industry and government with a set of tools to develop programs aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions. It also helps your organization to work within the framework of emissions trading schemes.
The ISO 14064 standard consists of three parts. The first part (14064-1) specifies the requirements for the design and development of greenhouse gas inventories at the organizational or corporate level. The second part (14064-2) describes the requirements for quantifying, monitoring and reporting emission reductions and improvements through GHG projects. The third part (14064-3) contains requirements and guidelines for the validation and verification of GHG information.
ISO 14064 is part of the ISO 14000 series of international standards for environmental management. ISO 14064 provides governments, companies, regions and other organizations with a complementary set of tools for programs to quantify, monitor, report and verify greenhouse gas emissions. ISO 14064 supports organizations in participating in regulated and voluntary programs such as emissions trading schemes and public reporting using a globally recognized standard.
